Café Orca, Melkbosstrand, Cape Town

After seeing a report in one of our local newspapers about this restaurant, all I can say is don't believe everything you read - there are some people that one just can't please - and sometimes one wonders why we even try!
Bottom line - this is a fabulous, friendly restaurant with good food. If you are interested in reading a review of the restaurant, follow the links on http://dobbino.com/restaurants.htm.

I had lunch there on Monday.
We were a party of three.
Food was okay - nothing to go overboard about.
All three dishes were fish dishes. 2 were okay, the third fish dish, Kingklip was so overcooked that it was dry and hard.
I will never send food back with a complaint. You never know what you will get back in its place.
The vegetables which were served for the day were so overcooked and terrible. It seemed that they had been cooking for hours.
The restaurant was very busy and perhaps this is the problem, they may not be in a position to handle a full restaurant efficiently.

The waiter, after serving the meal never returned until it was time to clear the plates from the table. Poor show or badly trained. Also no manager came around to check all the time that we were in the restaurant.

As stated, the restaurant was full to capacity and it may be wiser to try the restaurant when it is not so busy.

A real problem I have with the restaurant is that it is in poor condition. Also it is not clean, in fact it is very dirty which is totally unacceptable.

For a restaurant that charges top dollar, the owners need to get their act together and do something about the poor condition of the restaurant. If the staff cannot maintain the restaurant in a decent state of cleanliness, they should get in a cleaning service to bring it up to code if they want to see me there again.
